The Five Foods Needed for Life

Water
Water is essential for all life.  Our bodies are made of about 70% water. Water helps us flush toxins out of our body via sweat, urine etc.  Your body cells can only survive and multiply when there is water.  Water is needed to help your cells break down, take in and absorb the nutrients from the food you eat.   If we don’t drink water, we would die within four days.  Each day, we should drink at least 2 liters of water to maintain good health.
Grain, rice, corn and other types of Carbs
Grains are essential for us because they contain the carbohydrates that we need.  Carbohydrates are our main source of energy.  They should take up about 60% of our diet.  Carbohydrates are sugars that can be converted to glucose which our body needs.  Grains also provide fiber for us which is needed to help us move waste out of our digestive system.  Some great sources of Carbs would be rice, bread, muesli, spaghetti, pasta, etc.
Meats (protein)
Meats are essential in our diet because they provide protein, iron, zinc, other minerals and vitamin B for our bodies.  Vitamin B is only found in animal meat and it is needed for cell metabolism.  Protein is needed to build and repair body tissue and they are made of amino acids.  Without amino acids, life would not exist at all.  Minerals like Iron and zinc are needed to build up organs and maintain our body.  Iron helps make red blood cells in our body and zinc is needed to boost the immune system.  Meat also contains many other minerals that we need to stay and be healthy.
Fruits and Veggies
Fruits and Vegetables supply a wide variety of minerals and vitamins that can’t be found in other foods.  Eating fruits and vegetables provide your body with natural antioxidants and also can prevent many diseases like diabetes, heart disease and…you get the point.   Also, fruits and veggies help you poo!  The fiber they contain helps remove waste and other toxins from your body.  Fruits and Vegetables are absolutely needed in our diet.
Dairy products
Dairy products (sorry, ice-cream is not in this category, it is in FATS) contain calcium which is needed for us to build healthy bones and prevents osteoporosis.  Milk is a good source of calcium.  It also helps reduce the risk of heart attack, diabetes and strokes.  Studies have shown that by consuming other dairy products as well as milk, it can help reduce metabolic syndrome which is a group of factors that combine which can increase the risk of coronary artery disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.  Dairy products are rich in Calcium as well as other nutrients and vitamins.
